Harder might mean it will due more damage to other parts which come at a higher cost. So to hard and it kills the crank or rod, to soft and it comes apart under a load. So is the stock bearing just right. I agree oil is the key either way. And we can't forget about clearence and the crank can't be out of round. Now I understand why it is such a weak spot on the Z32.
